Resilience and self-regulation are vital to performance in both sport and school, as this helps students and athletes alike, achieve success. In sport, resilience enables individuals to bounce back from setbacks, adapt to challenges, and persevere under pressure—skills that are equally important for students facing academic obstacles in the classroom.
Self-regulation is essential for managing emotions, staying focused, and maintaining discipline, whether during training sessions or whilst completing schoolwork. These traits foster consistent performance, goal-setting, and personal growth, creating a strong foundation for success. Developing skills such as resilience and self-regulation through sports equips students with valuable life tools, enhancing their ability to navigate challenges in school and in their future endeavours.

Christmas Jumper Swap Shop
Do you have any Christmas jumpers at the back of your cupboards that are no longer needed? If so, and if they are in good condition, please consider donating them to us for our 'Christmas Jumper Swap Shop', which is being run by our Year 11 Prince’s Trust students!
From Monday 25 November to Thursday 5 December 2024, the Reception will be accepting Christmas jumper donations of all shapes, sizes and Christmassy patterns! This is in preparation for our Christmas jumper swap shop which will run on Friday 6 December, ahead of Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children on Friday 20 December. Your child's name will also be placed in a raffle for any donations received! For further details, please see the letter linked below, sent out earlier today.
Hampshire County Council is working with Modeshift and the Bikeability Trust to conduct a survey to find out if there is a link between a child’s travel behaviour and their general well-being. The survey is aimed at children between the ages of 11-19 years old.
The closing date is Friday 20 December. We would be grateful if you could take a moment to complete this survey,
The link for the survey can be found by pressing the button below. The password is: modeshift (all lower case)
This is a fantastic opportunity for students and parents/carers to use their voice and potentially shape government policy on supporting students’ physical and mental health. Completing the survey may also mean that you win a £50 Amazon voucher!
We are seeking a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant to work in the classroom supporting students with a range of special educational needs.

Williams F1 Racing League
Well done to Casper M 7TDN and Ollie A 9DDY for taking part in the first two races of the Williams F1 Student Racing League, ably assisted by a team of race engineers and data analysts.
They finished a brilliant 6th and 7th in race 1 (Monza), just outside the points. In race 2 (Austria) they finished 13th and 9th due to collisions caused by other cars! Both drivers can be really proud of their achievements given they were racing against college and university students, as well as other schools!
Click the drop-down menus below to find out more about different careers opportunities coming up for our students.
Year 11 T-Levels
If your child is considering applying for a T-Level they can complete a short 1-hour course to find out whether this is the qualification for them. Students will be issued with a certificate following completion of the course. Further information can be found here.

Your Library: The Ultimate Study Spot for Year 11
Attention, Year 11! Are you ready to make the most of your study time and ace your exams? The library is here to help you succeed!
Every Tuesday lunchtime, the library is reserved exclusively for Year 11 students. This means you’ll have a quiet, focused environment to get ahead with your revision or coursework without distractions.
In the library, you’ll have access to:
Study guides for all your core subjects.
Books to deepen your understanding or give you a well-deserved study break.
Computers for research, completing assignments, or using online learning tools.
Support and guidance from our knowledgeable librarian.
But that’s not all! By studying in the library, you can earn prom points with your study card. Simply attend, complete your work, and build up your points to make your prom even more memorable.
Bring your books, bring your friends (quiet ones, of course!), and make Tuesdays the highlight of your revision week. For more information or guidance, please see Mrs Cowley in the library.
Last half-term in RSHE, students made a great start to their discussion-based lessons where they explored a range of topics. The lessons are taught in tutor groups once a week. Teachers use a range of oracy-based strategies, including a Philosophy for Children approach. This is where students are encouraged to think more deeply through critical, creative, collaborative and caring thinking skills. Below are links to more information regarding RSHE.
Students will be exploring healthy living this half-term. They will be identifying what type of lifestyle they lead by considering their diet and exercise habits. They will also consider dental hygiene and pressures from the cosmetics industry. Energy drinks and caffeine will also be discussed, as well as the importance of sleep and brain development. Vaping will be the final topic in this healthy living series and we hope students will recognise the known and unknown risks associated with e-cigarettes.
Year 8
Students will be exploring the online world this half-term. They will be considering the impacts of social media and their responsibilities when it comes to online activity. They will also discuss the stress that can come with managing various online platforms and how media sources can have bias, misinformation and disinformation and it is therefore important to validate the information they view.
Year 9
Students will be exploring internet safety this half-term. They will consider how to use the internet safely and appropriately, as well as identifying what digital resilience is and how to develop it to keep themselves safe and happy. Students will also be completing their #beewell surveys this half-term, which will provide us with an insight into the mental health and wellbeing of our students, which helps inform our RSHE themes and in school support.
Year 10
Students will be exploring mental health and wellbeing this half-term. They will consider who are role models and what they may aspire to be like now and in the future. They will also consider how to reframe negative thinking to take a more positive approach to challenges and ways in which they can support mental and emotional wellbeing, including mindfulness and signposting on how to access quality support and guidance if ever needed.
Year 11
Students will be completing some Emergency First Aid training which will lead to a St John’s ambulance certificate if students fulfill the practical elements of the session. Students will also explore peer pressure and ways to manage it as well as discussing risky behaviours and lifestyle choices such as substance abuse.
Should your child wish to seek support related to any of these topics or about anything else that is worrying them, please advise them to speak to their form tutor in the first instance or request some support from our Student Support Team by completing the Student Support form on the student area of the school website.
We have our reporting system 'TootToot', where students can report anonymously or with their name.
Please note all calls both to and from the school are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
