As we come to the end of the first full week of school it has been wonderful to welcome all of the students back for the new academic year and I would like to thank you, as parents, for supporting your children to be ready. They have all the equipment they need, have a great attitude and are all dressed really smartly, showing pride in their Mountbatten uniform.
Our new Year 7 students are already very much part of Mountbatten and it has been a very busy week for them with CAT tests and team building activities; it has been wonderful wandering around seeing them so enthusiastically involved with all the activities, and the weather has just about held up. It is my pleasure, this year, to work alongside Mr. Rice, their Head of Year, to support Year 7’s start at Mountbatten and they will now have to prepare themselves to increasingly get homework so it will be important for us all to support them to establish a good routine from the start.
Year 9 and 10 students have also made a great start with their new timetable which has been built on their own subject choices made last year. We hope that their increased choice has helped them spend more time doing the subjects they enjoy and ultimately be more successful. Year 8 will not be far behind and they can look forward to making their choices for Year 9 in the Spring term.
But we have been most impressed with Year 11. They have clearly started the year determined and focused and with this attitude we feel certain that they will continue the long track record of high achievement at The Mountbatten School. Well done Year 11!
We are also looking to the future over the coming weeks as Year 6 prospective students and parents from all the local primary schools visiting us to help them decide if Mountbatten is the right school for them. We love showing off our wonderful school and students will see them as they tour around our buildings. We very much hope they like what they see and decide to join us in September 2026.
I would just like to finish by saying thank you to all parents and carers for your ongoing support in making Mountbatten such an amazing place to be.
