Thank you for continuing to follow the government’s coronavirus guidelines to keep each other safe. We wait with anticipation for the governments ‘Living with Covid’ guidance which is due out soon.
As we have done throughout the pandemic, we will continue to follow government guidance. Please continue to test on a Wednesday and Sunday evening during half term.
Storm Eunice means we are ending the half term slightly differently - we hope you have all stayed safe and we thank you for the support we have received when making the difficult decision to close the school site.
We wish our staff, students, their families and our wider school community a safe, happy and restful half term.

On Wednesday 9 February, the kitchen had a spot check visit from the Environmental Health Officer. We are pleased to announce they were awarded the highest reward of 5. They also had their annual audit on Friday 4 February and achieved 94% for Health and Safety and Food Hygiene, and 100% for Covid-19 Safety.
Medical Room Procedure
Thank you for following the protocol for when your child is ill at school.
If a student is ill or injured at school and goes to the Medical Room, Mrs Barratt (Welfare Officer) makes an assessment to decide on the most appropriate course of action. Mrs Barratt will contact parents if she thinks an issue is more than minor.
If a student has been ill or injured outside of school which may impact on them whilst they are here, please contact Mrs Barratt by writing a note in your child’s planner, or an email or telephone call to ensure she has as much information as possible about your child’s medical needs to be able to make the best decision for their wellbeing.
The Gambia Fundraising Project
We have an exciting fundraising opportunity for The Mountbatten School community to sponsor students in the Mansa Colley Bojang School, our partnership school in The Gambia. This is vital work to support young girls in The Gambia as many families have lost their sources of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and can no longer afford to send their children to school.
More information about the fundraising project can be found on thisLoom Video.
If you would like to make an online donation, however big or small, this is now available on SCOPAY, just click the button below! The deadline for donating is 30 March 2022.

Top Tip
Do you know how far your food has travelled to reach your plate? 'Food miles' refers to the distance that food travels from where it is grown to where it is eaten.
The further your food travels, the greater the carbon footprint of that item due to the transport required to move it. You can calculate the food miles for any item in your kitchen using the Food Miles Calculator.
We can reduce our food mile carbon footprint by buying locally sourced products that are in season. A great place to start is finding out where your local farmers' market is. Find out here.
