Now that we have adjusted our watches to British Summer Time, it’s hard to escape the buzz of excitement in the air as we look forward to the wealth of opportunities that Summer 2022 will bring to Mountbatten!
Having competed in over 160 fixtures this academic year, our sportsmen and women will be looking forward to a well-deserved break. Year 7 will be starting their Easter holidays fresh from engaging with the hands-on exhibits and the Planetarium experience at Winchester Science Centre. Next term, the Science Faculty will undertake innovative collaborative work alongside other faculties visiting the Real Lab and Southampton University.
Our budding actors and actresses will be heading off to the West End, London for a series of workshops, before immersing themselves in two live performances ‘The Woman in Black’ and ‘Come Away with Me!’.
Year 10 Historians will have the opportunity to plunge into the Jack the Ripper case and scrutinise evidence before moving onto Whitechapel, whilst their counterparts in Geography will be building their physical resilience and teamwork skills at Lulworth Cove and Swanage.
Back in school, students will once again be ‘revving up’ for our final ‘Race for the Line’ competition where their leadership and creativity will be put to the test in the Technology Faculty. Rays of sunshine will provide the perfect backdrop for our annual Poetry Festival whilst a vast array of leadership opportunities await our new prefects and, of course, budding prefects in the Lower School.
Finally, the long-awaited arrival of our return to foreign residentials is nearly upon us as we prepare to see students venture off to the Azores, where they will cycle around a volcanic caldera! We’ll be making splash in the Mediterranean as we end the year with students trying their hand at a multitude of watersports in Spain - I only wish I was 14 years old again!
In the words of Walt Disney ‘we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious’.

Top Tip
In recent years, recycling has received a lot of attention to ensure that our waste is made into something purposeful after we have used it. However, there is a more effective option. By reducing the number of products that we purchase and use, we can reduce our overall waste footprint.
The first time that you buy these items to reuse multiple times, it can seem expensive, but they are designed to last, so they are likely to save you money over time! Check out the image below for tips on how to reduce your waste.
