We have had a great first week of our final half term! The three whole cohort exams for Year 11 (plus options subject exams) have gone very well and our Year 11 students continue to impress us with their hard work and focus.
Students have returned from the Azores Expedition (finally dried out!), Year 10 Drama students have been in London watching several plays and joining in some brilliant theatre workshops and the Watersports Trip, leaving at the end of term, is in its final stages of organisation. Geography fieldwork for Year 7 and 10 is also coming up so we have a busy half term ahead!
This week was the last full week with Year 11 in school, details of their final day arrangements have been shared with parents/carers and can also be found on our website.
For those of you with students in Year 5, we would like to invite you to our Open Evening on 30 June from 6.00pm - 8.00pm where we will be showcasing all that our wonderful school has to offer.

Football Results
The U14 Girls' Football Team who competed in the Hampshire Cup Final on Thursday 26 May. The final took place at AFC Totton and the opposition was Westgate School. The girls worked hard throughout the game but lacked that cutting edge in the final third. Unfortunately, Westgate School showed quality at key moments and managed to win the game 3-0.
Athletics Results
The Intermediate Boys' (Year 9/10) Athletics squad who competed in the Regional B Finals at Winchester Athletics Track on Wednesday 8 June. This was the first time a Mountbatten Athletics squad have reached the regional finals for many years. The team produced some consistent performances and finished on 311 points after their track and field events. We finished 6th position overall.

Top Tip
With the arrival of the warmer weather, you may be trying your hand at some gardening over the next few weeks. See below for some tips on how use your outdoor spaces and windowsills a bit more sustainably!
Use a watering can to water your plants, instead of a hose or sprinkler. This will save water.
Use a composter to compost kitchen and garden scraps.
Plant drought-resistant plants such as lavenders and rosemary as these require less water during the warmer months. They look great too!
Make sure there are some plants in your garden or pot plants for pollinators such as bees! There are some useful tips on how to do this here
Try your hand at growing your own vegetables in your garden or even in plant pots on the windowsill! This is a great way to save on your food bills and enjoy the process of growing (and eating) your own food!
