Work Enrichment Day - Wednesday 13th July
We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday 13 July will see the return of our annual Work Enrichment Day. Instead of normal lessons students will experience a wide range of careers related activities, aimed to prepare them for the world of work.
Year 7 will have a visit from the Romsey Fire Museum, giving them the opportunity to operate the water hose, using the breathing apparatus, learning First Aid skills as well as talking to emergency service personnel about different careers available. Please note that one of the activities will use non-toxic synthetic smoke; please let us know in advance if your child is unable to take part in the activity due to medical concerns.
Year 8 students will investigate their skills set and which careers might be suitable to them with the aid of careers software. They will also take part in assemblies with apprenticeship providers and college, as well as meeting a variety of employers. The activities are designed to help student with the GCSE options choosing process next year.
Year 9 will focus on enterprise and entrepreneurship, with activities designed to focus on their business and creativity skills.
Year 10 students have the opportunity to test their communication skills gained during work experience and use these in mock interviews. They will receive feedback from the interviewers not only on their interview skills but also their personal statement, preparing them for next year’s college and apprenticeship application process. They will also attend a variety of workshops preparing them for their post-16 journey.
All students should wear their school uniform, except Year 10 students who can choose between school uniform or smart wear, suitable for an interview.
Students will stay with their tutors throughout the day, break times will operate as normal.

Feedback from employers is starting to arrive and we are so very impressed by how students have conducted themselves this week. They were engaged, asked lots of interesting questions, used their initiative to help out where needed and gained a really good insight into the world of work. One of the employers was concerned that he needed to keep the student on his side in case he ends up working for him! Students will receive their feedback forms once they have been processed by the Careers Office. Students should keep hold of them as they can act as a reference for future job opportunities. Further photos can be found on the Careers Office Instagram page.
