Comic Strip Conversations

Who is the intervention for?
Comic Strip Conversations are a tool designed for individuals who need support with social communication. These are particularly beneficial for people who struggle to understand social interactions or express their thoughts and feelings effectively.

What does the intervention involve?
A Comic Strip Conversations session typically involves creating a visual, step-by-step representation of a social interaction to help the individual understand it better. Sessions are interactive, personalised, and facilitated by a teaching assistant.
A session might involve breaking down social scenarios into simple, visual formats; teaching about feelings, thoughts, and perspectives in specific interactions; or problem-solving and preparing for future situations (e.g. how to join a group conversation or handle disagreements).

When does the intervention take place?
This intervention takes place once a week for 6 weeks during a timetabled lesson.
For some students, single sessions are offered as and when needed.
